No one has forgotten Keane! In 2004, the English band hit the world with their hits « Somewhere Only We Know » and « Everybody’s Changing », taken from « Hopes and Fear », a debut album that sold over 6 million copies worldwide. The band is now celebrating its sensational debut. After a cleverly orchestrated tease on social networks, Keane has announced a major world tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of « Hopes and Fear ». The album will be reissued on May 10, 2024, 20 years to the day after its initial release, and will be accompanied by a major series of concerts. The band will kick off their tour in Mexico next April, before making a stopover in Europe for four shows. These are scheduled in Amsterdam, Cologne, Brussels and Paris. In the French capital, the band will take over the legendary Olympia concert hall on April 26, 2024! Tickets, costing between 49.5 and 55 euros, go on sale on Friday September 15.
A nostalgic tour
Keane will then return to British soil in May 2024, with dates in Leeds, Manchester, Dublin and London, where the band will perform at the O2 Arena on May 10. For the entire European tour, support will be provided by rock band The Lathums, very popular in the UK. » I feel like I’ve been through a lot in 20 years. For me, it feels like a really long time. The release of this album was the moment when our lives drastically changed, and it’s like a real marker in time, after which a lot of things have happened, good or bad » singer Tom Chaplin wistfully recalls in the columns of NME.
Today, Tom Chaplin says he’s still » connected to the songs » from this album, the ninth best-selling of the 21st century in the UK: » When I sing them on stage, they always surprise me, and something strikes me in a way it didn’t before, like a new way of hearing the song « . For the time being, this anniversary tour does not indicate whether or not a new album is in the pipeline. This would be the first since « Cause and Effect » released in 2019, which marked Keane’s big comeback after a seven-year break. Since then, only the « Dirt » EP, containing two previously unreleased tracks and two demo versions, saw the light of day in summer 2021.
