After a year of anticipation, this Colombian series that is creating a buzz released its second season on April 19th. Upon its release, the second batch of episodes propelled the production to the top of the most-watched programs in France on Netflix. This gives us the opportunity to explore the world of this series and especially one of its leading actresses, Ana Lucia Dominguez, who portrays the role of Camila Duarte.
What is the series about?
This Colombian series made a significant impact in 2022 with its intriguing plot and stellar cast. Indeed, it is the most-watched series on Netflix in France. It tells the story of a man seeking revenge after his wife is killed to harvest her heart. He befriends the patient who received his wife’s heart to find the organ traffickers responsible. The series combines drama, action, and romance to keep viewers on the edge of their seats and help them connect with the characters. Spoiler alert: Season 2 focuses on Zacarías‘ revenge, as his wife faked her own death and fell in love with another man, who happens to be Simón. Beware, spoilers ahead!
Who is Ana Lucia Dominguez?
Ana Lucía Domínguez Tobón is a Colombian actress born on December 2, 1983, in Bogota. From a young age, she admired Margarita Rosa De Francisco and began her career at the age of nine by appearing in commercials. Her first role in cinema was in the telenovela « De pies a cabeza » and then in « Conjunto Cerrado. » She played a leading role for the first time in « Hermosa Niña » in 1998, but it sparked controversy in Colombia because she appeared nude at the age of 15, which led some people to associate her character with Lolita, the heroine of Vladimir Nabokov’s novel. It was at this time that she decided to fully dedicate herself to her acting career. Ana Lucía then achieved success as the host of « Los Ángeles de la Mega. » Her international career began with the telenovela « Gata salvaje. » However, it was her participation in « Pasion de gavilanes » in 2003 that made her known in Latin America and Spain. At that time, she appeared on the cover of « Interviú » magazine, where she posed sensually and nude. She repeated this experience twice for the Colombian magazine « SoHo. » In 2009, she was recruited by Telemundo to play the lead role in the series « Perro amor, » alongside Puerto Rican actor Carlos Ponce and Colombian actress Maritza Rodríguez. For the shooting, she moved to Miami. The series also gave her the opportunity to sing a few songs. That same year, she appeared in the Colombian series « Le fantôme du Grand Hôtel. » Later, she portrayed the character of Marina in the telenovela « La traicionera, » which aired on RCN. In 2013, she played the lead role in the series « Las Bandidas » produced by RTI Productions for Televisa and RCN. In total, she has appeared in 23 series, 1 film, and 2 theater plays.
Personal Life
After being in a relationship for five years with comedian David Alberto García, known as « Jeringa, » who is 14 years older than her, they got married in 2001. She was only 18 years old at the time, but two years later, the couple announced their divorce. In 2008, she announced her marriage to Colombian actor Jorge Cárdenas. Since then, they have been happily married and proudly share their relationship on social media.
Why doesn’t she have children?
In an interview with « 15 Minutes » magazine, Ana Lucía Domínguez explained why she and her husband Jorge Cárdenas do not have children: « I am at a very important moment in my career, and if I want a baby, I would have to stop working for at least a year because I want to be 100% present for my child. I don’t feel capable of delegating their care to someone else. But if God puts a child in our hearts, they are more than welcome. »
